Swadhikar project: Tribal governance, rights & entitlements, women empowerment
The project aims to ensure good governance for marginalized tribal communities with a specific focus on women and children through PESA and FRA adherence with livelihood improvement and access of entitlement and enjoy their rights. The project was launched on 27th August 2014 in Ranchi where the entire partners were involved in the program. The project was implemented from August 2014 where certain activities were conducted. The project area is Patratu block of 3 panchayats namely Bicha, Baridih, and Sanki where SPWD Ranchi has taken 14 villages for the implementation of the project. The broad objective of this project being funded by Caritas Australia through Caritas India is to strengthen gram sabha for accessibility of rights and entitlements through Natural resource management based livelihood accessibility through gender sensitivity. Its specific objectives are –
- 14 villages of 03 panchayats in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand have effectively functioning gram sabha in adherence to PESA.
- The marginalized tribal community in 14 villages of 3 panchayats in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand will have increased their income by 30 percent.
- The tribal community in 14 villages of 3 panchayats in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand have increased the involvement of women in the decision-making process in Gram Sabhas by the end of June 2017.
